Introductions
Welcome. Get comfortable, kick off those shoes, brew up a cup of something delicious. Stay a while.
I’d like to dedicate this little corner of cyber space to all things nature related. When I was a little girl, I spent my weekends at a friend’s farms, playing amongst the ramsons on the riverbanks. I picked blackberries with my Grandmother and sloes from the common with my parents. These days I’m at my happiest barefoot in a stream, or picking treasures from the hedgerows.
Some of my favourite places are spots where I can be completely alone, yet feel the presence of something bigger than myself. I’m lucky enough to live on Wales’ west coast, near an abundance of beaches, woodland and foot paths, where my mother’s ancestors worked the land. My father hails from a line of Cornish sailors and fishermen, which would explain the connection I’ve always felt to the countryside and the coast. No doubt there’s a hedgewitch or two to be found somewhere on both sides!
It doesn’t sit well with me that in this plugged in, tuned in, fueled up, fully charged life that we lead, the thought of stepping outside and gathering a few herbs before reaching for the pharmaceuticals is alien to most people. For me the very act of foraging or taking a walk is a chance to slow down and just be. To be present and thankful and reconcile with my thoughts. To let go of stress and maintain mental and physical wellness. An easy antidote to a day at the office.
So if you’re a bit like me, and like to learn and share ideas, then stop by from time to time. But for now, it’s into the forest I go, to lose my head and find my soul. And some wood sorrel if I’m lucky!
